Crowd funding has played a major part in the recent resurgence of VR, primarily due to the huge success of the Oculus kickstarter campaign that managed to raise a massive $2,437,429 USD from 9,522 backers and helped make Oculus a driving force in consumer Virtual Reality technology.

With that in mind we take a look at whats on the horizon with our roundup of the best VR related Kickstarters.

1. FOVE: The World's First Eye Tracking Virtual Reality Headset

FOVE generated a lot of media attention when they first launched their Kickstarter campaign back in May and managed to smash their goal of $250,000 in under 72 hours. With the final total reaching $480,650 spread over 1,480 backers we're expecting big things from FOVE.

If they can deliver on the promise of the The World's First Eye Tracking Virtual Reality Headset they could be a major player in emerging VR technologies and are definitely one worth keeping a close eye on.

2. Salto - Captures your every move. VR, AR, film, VFX, gaming

Not specifically a VR device but rather a tool to help bring motion capture to VR projects, the Salto motion capture solution could potentially have a huge impact on VR development.

With $64,155 pledged towards their $100,000 goal and still 17 days to go I have my fingers crossed that they'll receive the support and funding they need to make Salto a reality.

3. dscvr : A roadworthy Virtual Reality headset for smartphones

With the popularity of google cardboard reaching far and wide we've seen a flood of knock off mobile phone VR viewers hit the market and most have been rather average, but can dscvr deliver something different with their take on a portable mobile based VR viewer ?

4. SpaceVR: Step into Space

With plans of installing their Overview One Virtual Reality camera in the Cupola module of the International Space Station (ISS), SpaceVR wants to bring space to the masses with high quality 360 Degree video of earth as seen by the occupants of the ISS.

With only 3 days left in their campaign and with $75,214 pledged of their $100,000 goal can SpaceVR get the boost needed to make their Kickstarter plans a reality? At this point it seems unlikely but only time will tell.
